About AIMS Professional Development Programs

An important part of the mission of AIMS is to provide professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators in our member schools. Each year, a committee of educators gathers to develop and plan the program offerings for the upcoming year based on the identified needs in their discipline. Generally, twenty to twenty-five programs are presented each school year ranging in length from one-half day to three days long in a variety of disciplines. Some of the programs offered are specifically planned to reach educators where they are on their professional journey, starting with specific programs for beginning teachers to the Experienced Teacher Institute celebrating the careers of veteran teachers. Another professional development opportunity is the AIMS Annual Conference that is held at the Baltimore Convention Center each fall. This daylong event hosts both major speakers from around the country as well as local educators.

AIMS Professional Development Program Proposals

AIMS is committed to providing professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators of our member schools. In addition to our Annual Conference, each year the AIMS office works with the Professional Development Committee to develop a selection of programs for teachers. Some of the programs are teacher-led affinity-group gatherings. Other offerings are workshops led by experts in many different fields of study. Schools and individuals are encouraged to propose future program topics and speakers for consideration. In addition, several multi-day retreats are offered by AIMS for Business Officers, Technology Directors, and mid-level administrators.

AIMS would like to encourage educators in our schools who are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with others, to do so by presenting an AIMS workshop. Click on the Program Proposal and Information Form which may be completed and submitted to our office for consideration by the Professional Development Committee. Program proposals should be submitted no later than February 1st for consideration for the next school year.
